Active Communities

We believe everyone should be able to access high-quality sports, leisure, health, and wellbeing activities. Through our Active Communities team we:

• Provide affordable and inclusive opportunities for under-represented individuals and community groups
• Inspire more younger people to particpate in sport and physical activity
• Encourage older people to be active which helps to tackle social isolation
• Provide accessible programmes and facilities for people with disabilities

Affordable and inclusive opportunities for all

Working in partnership with Portsmouth City Council we offer discounted activities in Portsmouth through the Portsmouth Leisure Card scheme. We also provide free swimming for under 12s.

Ladies-only sessions have been introduced to encourage more women and girls to participate in sports.

Inspiring young people

Parent and child-friendly classes, such as Mums and Tots Netball are available. Furthermore, we engage with local schools to run a summer City Games event with sports taster sessions and fun.

Encouraging older people to be active

Age-friendly activities and classes include Walking Football and TOFFs (over 55s). Racket Sports Clubs to help participants build confidence, improve mobility, and maintain physical activity. they are also great fun and very social.

Accessible programmes and facilities

SEN swimming and Clip ‘N Climb sessions are generally quieter with additional support on hand. We also work with several organisations and partners to provide high-quality, accessible facilities and classes such as accessible changing rooms, toilets, and accessible exercise equipment.
