Codes of Conduct

By enrolling onto Littledown Juniors, you are consenting that you have read, understood, and agree to the below points

For the players:

  • Play for the fun and enjoyment of the game.
  • Play by the Laws of the Game and remember the Littledown Juniors motto ‘The Game First, The Result Second”.
  • Never argue with the referee – even if you disagree with their decision, remember they are volunteers.
  • Respect everyone - including referees, staff, other players, and parents/guardians on both sides.
  • Do NOT bully other players. Treat fellow players as you yourself would like to be treated.
  • Remember – winning isn’t everything. The aim of Littledown Juniors is to help you improve your skills and have fun whatever the result may be.
  • Always shake hands at the end of the game with the opposition.
  • Please arrive on time to play and with correct kit especially shin pads. Shin pads must be worn at all times during the games by every player.
  • Any incidences of poor behaviour will be followed up and dealt with appropriately.

For the Parents/Guardians/Carers/Spectators:

  • Please ensure you supervise your child at all times. Players from under 7’s to under 13’s should have a parent/guardian/responsible adult with them for the duration of the session.
  • To reduce the distraction of the players, spectators are asked not to stand behind the goal or on the goal line. All spectators must stand on the sidelines of the pitch (for grass pitches spectators should stand behind the Respect Lines).
  • Encourage your child to play to the Laws of the Game.
  • Never either physically or mentally pressure children beyond their abilities. The game is of minor consideration when compared to the child’s future health and well-being.
  • Respect everyone - including referees, staff, other players, and parents on both sides.
  • Use only positive and encouraging language when commenting on the football being played.
  • Applaud good play by your team and of the opposition.
  • Do not question the referee's judgement or honesty – even if you disagree with their decision, they are volunteers. Remember they are only human and can make mistakes. However, if there are any issues, please speak to a coordinator as soon as possible.
  • We ask you all to lead by example, any inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated and will be dealt with appropriately.
  • If an issue arises during a game, please bring it to your coordinator’s attention as soon as possible – do not try to intervene yourself.

For the Referees/Volunteers:

  • Place the well-being and safety of each player above all other considerations. First Aid can be accessed from the Coordinators and the Football Office (located by the astro pitches).
  • Ensure that each player is correctly dressed in the necessary safety equipment before being allowed to play. Including correct footwear, shin pads etc. (Shin pads must be worn at all times)
  • Read the Laws of the Game and assist others in understanding them.
  • Please show respect to all parties including staff, players and parents on both sides.
  • Please use a whistle when refereeing. Use a clear voice in a neutral tone to give direction. Players may need further guidance to ensure they have understood the instruction given, please explain further if required.
  • When speaking to parties please use clear and positive language.
  • Applaud good play by both teams, you cannot coach one particular team whilst officiating.
  • If there are any issues, please speak a coordinator as soon as possible – do not try to intervene yourself.

General Rule:

If at any point during you games an issue occurs, please bring it to the attention of your coordinator at the earliest possible convenience so that the issue can be dealt with quickly and effectively.

Thank you as always for your continued support here at Littledown Juniors.
