Beating the ‘pause’, breaking the silence

This year, we marked Menopause Awareness Month (October) with a series of empowering physical activities in safe spaces for women to share, learn, and feel supported.

Bournemouth: Beat the Pause

At Littledown in Bournemouth, our Beat the Pause programme continues to make a real difference.

Initially funded by Sport England in 2022 to support women through fitness, wellbeing, and lifestyle guidance, this tailored health and wellbeing programme has gained national recognition for its role in championing exercise for peri-menopausal and menopausal health.

This underscores the importance of community-led programmes that give people the tools and confidence to thrive during menopause.

Meanwhile, at the Mountbatten Leisure Centre in Portsmouth, our free Menopause: Hot Topics talk brought people together for an open and honest discussion.

Delivered by one of our specially qualified BH Live Active instructors, the session encouraged participants to share their experiences, ask questions, and explore practical ways to manage the symptoms of menopause.

The event was a great success, with our participants’ feedback speaking volumes:

“An enlightening session, thank you”

“Nice to have other ladies who understand, and to have the freedom to talk”

“Nice welcoming environment - made it feel easy to be a part of”

These voices highlight the power of connection, showing how a supportive environment can help those experiencing the symptoms of menopause to feel heard and understood.

Looking Ahead

The success of Menopause Awareness Month at BH Live Active demonstrates the impact of combining education, community, and wellbeing. Across Hampshire, it’s great to see more people finding strength in shared experiences and practical guidance.

BH Live Active remains committed to continuing these conversations and initiatives to ensure every visitor has the resources, confidence, and support to begin, return, or continue their fitness journey.
