BH Live's Portsmouth Interaction service is proud to have supported this year's S.A.L.T Festival (Suicide Awareness Let's Talk), a free community wellbeing event dedicated to raising awareness, reducing stigma, and encouraging open conversations around suicide and mental health.
S.A.L.T Festival took place on Saturday 5 September 2026, bringing together local organisations, support services, community groups, and wellbeing providers to promote suicide awareness, encourage meaningful conversations, and connect people with available support.
BH Live used the festival to platform Portsmouth Interaction, one of the registered charity’s community health and wellbeing programmes that support people living with mental health conditions through accessible physical activity, recreational opportunities, and social connection. The service aims to help people improve their overall wellbeing while fostering friendship, confidence, and a stronger sense of community.
Throughout the festival, attendees had the opportunity to learn more about Portsmouth Interaction and discover how regular physical activity, social engagement, and community support can play an important role in promoting positive mental health and wellbeing.
S.A.L.T Festival was inspired by a commitment to raising awareness of suicide prevention and creating a welcoming space where conversations around mental health can take place openly and without judgement. Organisers continue to work alongside a wide range of charities, support services, and community organisations to provide information, guidance, and hope to those affected by mental health challenges or suicide.
On behalf of S.A.L.T Festival, Jonathan Smith, Event Organiser, shared;
“This is the fourth year of Suicide Awareness Lets Talk (SALT) Fest, and we can say with confidence that SALT Festival continues to grow from strength to strength. This year we had over 50 local groups and organisations represented, and with the weather gods bringing us the glorious sunshine an amazing turnout from the public across the whole day.
“Whilst SALT Festival is focussed on suicide awareness, there is a strong focus on mental and physical health and wellbeing, so having organisations like BH Live involved is really important, especially with the work BH Live is doing to promote access and inclusion across the city.”
By partnering with S.A.L.T Festival, BH Live continues its commitment to working alongside local organisations to improve health outcomes, tackle social isolation, and support positive mental wellbeing across Portsmouth and the surrounding area.
On behalf of BH Live, Kerry Morgan, Portsmouth Interaction Manager, shared;
"We're delighted to have supported S.A.L.T Festival and its important mission to encourage open conversations around suicide awareness and mental health. At Portsmouth Interaction, we see the positive impact that connection, community support, and physical activity can have on people's wellbeing every day. Events like this help people access valuable local services, reduce stigma, and remind those who may be struggling that they are not alone. We're proud to be part of an initiative that brings people together and promotes hope across our community."
