Littledown Centre on track to reopen next month

Littledown Centre, including its café and bar, is set to reopen as scheduled on Tuesday 2 January 2024. This is following a temporary closure in December 2023 to conduct essential electrical maintenance work.

Over the four-week closure, work was carried out by specialist contractors to install new electrical panels to replace those that were damaged during a plant room fire in November 2022. Other improvements include the installation of energy-efficient LED lighting.

To mitigate further disruption and closures, BCP Council also commissioned the removal of the centre’s water flumes which had reached their end of life and were no longer operational.

Littledown is managed by registered charity BH Live, in partnership with BCP Council.

Rob Cunningham, BH Live’s Associate Director for Leisure said;

“We want to thank our customers and our leisure centre teams for their patience amidst the temporary closure. Littledown is such an important asset to the local community, providing a wealth of activities and classes for clubs, community groups and visitors of all ages. We can’t wait to reopen and are so excited to welcome our customers back.”

Activity timetables for the New Year are now live. Classes are bookable up to seven days in advance.
