- Young people across Portsmouth encouraged to ‘spring’ into physical activity
Young people across Portsmouth and the surrounding area are encouraged to have fun staying active throughout the Easter school holidays thanks to BH Live’s packed programme of junior activities.
Whatever the weather, there will be lots for families to see and do at their local leisure centre.
There’s swimming crash courses to help youngsters top up their water skills. Additional Wet & Wacky pool fun sessions are running at Mountbatten Leisure Centre and Charter Community Sports Centre. Also at Mountbatten are extra AquaDash! sessions to encourage more young people to have fun in the water on the giant pool obstacle course.
For those looking for drier activities, there’s Baby Biker cycling sessions, Family Gym or Yoga classes, Basketball, Athletics, Junior Hip Hop, and Roller Skating. Soft play for tots aged 5 and under is also available at Mountbatten Leisure Centre’s recently refurbished Terrace Café.
Gymnastics camps and multi-sports holiday camps are running at Portsmouth Gymnastics & Tennis Centre. Full of action-packed games and activities for children aged 5-12 years, places are bookable online.
Furthermore there’s extra HAF (Holiday activities and food programme) funded activities at Exploria and Mountbatten. Places are for children in receipt of benefits-based free school meals*. Activities include Play & Bounce at Exploria, AquaDash! and Wet & Wacky sessions at Mountbatten.
At Exploria in Southsea, Portsmouth’s largest indoor play and bounce centre, there’s Bounce & Play, Soft Play, and SEN sessions throughout the school holidays. With Baby & Toddler, Junior Play, and Bounce Activity Zones and two sensory rooms, there’s lots to see and do. Sessions and bookings are online at exploria.org.uk.
Mountbatten Leisure Centre, Pyramids, Exploria at Pyramids, Charter Community Sports Centre, Wimbledon Park Sports Centre, Portsmouth Tennis Centre, and Portsmouth Gymnastics Centre are owned by Portsmouth City Council and operated in partnership with BH Live.
