Join us for this outdoor event in partnership with cycling uk. An initiative to raise awareness of safe riding after dark for women. Inclusive to all.

This is a call out to local people to join us for a fun ride, decorate your bikes and highlight the cause.

We want to create an after dark spectacle. Something beautiful but also highlighting a real issue.

The hope is we have 100 riders to coincide with Portsmouth 100.

• Safe, marshalled route
• Off road on public cycle paths
• Bright and fun
• Refreshments available at the start and end of the ride
• Restroom available at the leisure centre

Please note: spaces may be limited, so early booking is recommended.

Reaching out to riders, and those that do not ride due to fears of after dark riding.

We will ride from Mountbatten leisure centre and join up with businesses based at Lakeside North harbour, riding around the private land and Lake, returning via Hilsea Lido. The whole route is off road, so suitable for families.

The problem

• Many women are missing out on the freedom that cycling can bring.
• 9 in 10 women are afraid of cycling in towns and cities.
• The gender gap around perceptions of safety has grown, and women are being left behind.
• 58% of women still think their cycle journeys are limited by safety concerns and a lack of suitable infrastructure.
