Following customer feedback, we’re excited to share that Mountbatten Leisure Centre’s health and wellbeing facilities are getting a welcome upgrade. 

Throughout June, we will be improving the gym’s cardio and strength zones, and creating new recovery, physio, and wellness areas. You can expect brand-new Precor gym equipment with 130 workout stations, tech-enabled workouts on EGYM equipment and post-workout recovery and training areas featuring Reach Wellness kit. We’ll also be revamping the flooring, lighting, and decoration. 

During this time, we’ll also be repainting Mountbatten Leisure Centre’s health suite (spa area) and refreshing the lockers and showers. Gym changing room improvements, and redecoration in the pool hall spectator area will also be carried out. 

So we can carry out these transformations as quickly as possible, the gym, health suite, gym changing rooms and pool spectator area will be temporarily closed from Monday 8 June 2026 for an estimated four weeks. 

Alternative gym facilities (membership and PAYG) are available at Pyramids Centre, Charter Community Sports Centre, and Wimbledon Park Sports Centre (see website for centre opening times).  

Alternative changing facilities are available in the changing rooms on poolside. Pool spectating will be from Mountbatten Leisure Centre’s café area only. The rest of the centre is open and operating as usual. 

What’s happening with the gym kit from Mountbatten? 

Great news! Some of the gym equipment will be relocated to Wimbledon Park Sports Centre and Charter Community Sports Centre to create new and improved spaces to workout. This will be available for you to use from Wednesday 17 June 2026 as part of your BH Live Active membership, or via PAYG.
