Bounce, climb, splash and play: BH Live Active unveils biggest ever half term line up in Portsmouth

Young people and families across Portsmouth can look forward to a fun‑filled February half‑term, with a packed programme of activities taking place at BH Live Active leisure and sports centres.

Operated by BH Live, a registered charity and social enterprise working in partnership with Portsmouth City Council, BH Live Active has expanded its junior activity programme across its leisure and sports centres to help children of all ages stay active, burn off energy, and enjoy time together throughout the half-term, whatever the weather.

From group exercise classes such as Family Gym, Junior Gym, Junior Hip Hop, Baby Swim, and much more, there are lots of activities available to keep little ones busy.

There are sessions available for babies, toddlers, children, and teens up to 17 years old. Families can explore BH Live Active’s school holiday timetable to find out what’s happening at their nearest centre.

MountAirX, a giant inflatable attraction that launched at Mountbatten Leisure Centre in October 2025, offers bouncing, climbing, and sliding excitement, challenging balance, agility, and speed in a safe and thrilling environment. Brand-new Under 5s and SEND sessions have also launched, encouraging more families to have a go on this amazing new attraction.

For an even bigger adventure, MountAirXL doubles the action. Spanning the entire sports hall, 12 adrenaline-packed features include a Beat the Wall challenge and an interactive Trailblazer climbing wall. MountAirXL offers more space, more slides, and more challenges for kids ready to jump, climb, and play.

Young people aged 8+ are challenged to tackle pool attraction, AquaDash!, at Mountbatten Leisure Centre. Navigating a hump, demolition ball, basher wall, and much more, children will dash across this epic aqua obstacle course before making a splash on the 5ft challenge slide.

For even more pool excitement, families can make a splash with additional Wet & Wacky sessions, a much‑loved pool play experience featuring inflatables, floats, and water toys.

Free swimming is also available for all under‑12s at BH Live Active pools in Portsmouth when accompanied by a full‑paying adult or an adult BH Live Active member.

Families can also create unforgettable memories this February half-term with Clip N’ Climb at Mountbatten Leisure Centre. Whether a beginner or an experienced climber, challenge yourself on seven thrilling climbing walls, the perfect activity for those cold, wet days.

Sessions are available on a pay-as-you-go basis and are bookable up to seven days in advance in-centre, via the BH Live Active app or at bhliveactive.org.uk. Booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.

Additionally, Portsmouth’s largest indoor soft play and bounce attraction, Exploria at Pyramids in Southsea, will hold multiple sessions throughout the holidays, allowing children to play interactive games, climb, whizz down themed slides, jump into foam pits, and much more. Sessions can be booked online at exploria.org.uk.

Soft play is also available in Mountbatten Leisure Centre’s Terrace Café.

Portsmouth City Council’s leisure centres are operated on their behalf by registered charity and social enterprise BH Live.

On behalf of BH Live, Bobby Cole, Group Swim & Junior Activities Manager, shared;

“We’re really excited to offer our biggest and most varied half‑term programme yet. From inflatables and pool adventures to junior gym sessions and climbing challenges, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
