Charity pledges six-figure investment intoStokewood leisure centre

BH Live, the charity that operates leisure centres and venues across the BCP region is investing more than a quarter of a million pounds to revamp the changing facilities at Stokewood Leisure Centre.

Stokewood Leisure Centre opened in 1930 and is a popular community leisure centre situated in the Winton/Charminster area of Bournemouth.

Serving the local community, the centre is managed by BH Live, in partnership with BCP Council.

The work, commissioned and funded by the charity will see the centre’s poolside changing rooms refurbished with new shower facilities, toilets and vanity units.

Furthermore, new flooring and the installation of energy-efficient LED lighting will complete the new look areas.

Work will begin on Tuesday 2 January 2024 and is estimated to take up to 12 weeks. It will be phased to minimise disruption.

The centre will be open and all activities operating as usual.

During the works, customers will be able to access changing and locker facilities however they will be required to arrive ready to train or swim, and shower at home while the renovation is underway.

This year more than £1m is being spent by the charity to improve local leisure and cultural facilities across the BCP region. This project is one that will make a big difference to the overall experience at Stokewood Leisure Centre.
